Domaine Jacques Selosse, spirit of Champagne

Jacques Selosse founded his estate in Champagne in 1949, at the end of the Second World War, his son Anselme took over the estate in 1980.

Certain wine tasters are surprised by its intensity, depth, and minerality…very few wines in the world possess such resonance and ability to change ones’ perception of champagne.

These champagnes are for gastronomy, where its value shines on the table rather than as an aperitif.

The complete work on a vineyard, harvesting at optimal maturity, combination of different varieties and vintages (solera assembly, each old vintage shares insight on younger ones),
some of which are still maturing after six years come together to create a unique bottle.

All these processes and effort results in an ever more harmonious expression,
of the land and earth.

The estate, overseen by Jacques, Anselme's father, contains about forty plots
on the Côte des Blancs, in Chardonnay, spread mainly on Avize, but also on Cramant,
Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, supplemented with Pinot Noir from Aÿ, Ambonnay and Mareuil.

The winery produces 57,000 bottles per year, where 33,000 labelled as its main cuvee “Initial”, assembled with Chardonnay, (Avize, Cramant et Oger), from 3 past vintages.

The remaining bottles are assembled depending on the final desired type of champagne,
cuvee “Version Original”, Blanc de blancs and six lieux-dits are all made with best vintages from several years.

Bottles are rare and highly sought-after around the world and can only be acquired from retailers.

Different cuvees available.
