A recent brand whose origins are far away...
La Estancia cigars arrived on the market only in 2014. The brand is young and little-known to aficionados. However, it was launched by the Meerapfel, a respected family that has been in the tobacco industry for the last decades. The story begins in 1876 when the eponymous company was founded. Today it deals in several fields of the tobacco industry, such as tobacco leaves production and trade. The company is also in charge of the worldwide distribution of renowned cigar brands as, for example, Padrón, Opus X or Arturo Fuente, for which it produces wrapper leaves. Besides, since 2014 the Meerapfel family has been making long filler premium cigars under the brand La Estancia.
Initiated by brothers Jeremiah and Joshua, La Estancia draws on its heritage and expertise in tobacco accumulated by four previous generations. These high quality cigars are made in Honduras from locally produced leaves that have been carefully selected. However, the leaves used for cigar manufacture also come from Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and Cuba. The particularity of Cuban tobacco leaves is that they date back to the 1970s! Actually, the company Mr Meerapfel Söhne Belgium Inc. was not American at that time, that’s why it was able to purchase Cuban tobacco in the past. Previous generations of the Meerapfel family were stockpiling it in order to sell as soon as the embargo is lifted, but the new generations decided differently.
Cigars La Estancia Edición Exclusiva feature aged tobacco. So during tasting, ammonia do not alter aromas and flavors. The strength is well balanced and the draw is perfect. This excellence will reveal aromas of coffee, cocoa, pepper and a subtle flavor typical of Cuban cigars.
Finally, the presentation is flattering. These cigars, dressed in a triple entirely gilded holographic band, come in a beautiful lacquered black box.
