Ramón Allones Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225 Humidor
An exclusive humidor inspired by the past of the official UK importer of Habanos.
2015 marked the 225th anniversary of the official importer of Habanos in the UK: Hunters & Frankau.
This anniversary was the occasion for the importer to present a new regional edition: the Ramón Allones Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225 Edición Regional Gran Bretaña 2015.
Produced in only 2'000 cabinets of 25 cigars, the vitola is a Gordito con Cabeza Tumbada. In other words, a Gordito (50 x 141 mm) but with a head that is halfway between a Figurado and a Parejo, in the manner of a 109.
The choice of the vitola on the one hand and the brand on the other are not by chance. In 1911, the Ramón Allones brand was owned by John Hunter, one of the two founders of the Hunters & Frankau company. This was the case until 1927, when Ramón Allones was bought by Partagás, which transferred production to its own factory. Ramón Allones windows are still produced there today. The entire production of the Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225 Edición Regional Gran Bretaña 2015 (50,000 cigars), which took place between February and May 2013, was carried out exclusively by three of the most experienced torcedores at the Partagás factory.
The Gordito con Cabeza Tumbada vitola is one of the characteristic formats produced by Ramón Allones during the John Hunter era.
In keeping with the British tradition of Cuban cigars, the Ramón Allones Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225 were carefully stored under perfect temperature and humidity conditions for two years after their arrival in the UK until they were released for sale. This is so that they can reach their full maturity and give the best of what they have to offer.
For this particular regional edition, which is part of its 225th anniversary, Hunters & Frankau has decided to revisit the second red and silver band, which is characteristic of the regional editions. Instead of being stamped "Exclusivo Gran Bretaña" as it should have been, the ring bears the name of the cigar: "Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225".
In order to underline the importance of this event, Hunters & Frankau also chose to create an exclusive humidor, produced in only 225 copies. The humidor was created in close collaboration with the Italian company DeArt, whose expertise is well known.
Between the end of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century, it was relatively common to buy Cuban cigars in cedar cabinets containing between 100 and 10,000 cigars. This style of presentation, which was highly coveted at the time, gave rise to the term "Cabinet Selection". The latter was used to designate the exceptional quality Habanos selected to fill these cabinets, but also to designate the Spanish cedar boxes with sliding lids (Slide Lid Boxes or SLBs), which could contain 25 or 50 cigars, designed to ship them.
The Ramón Allones Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225 humidor is a replica of this presentation style, containing four cabinets of the Ramón Allones Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225 Edición Regional Gran Bretaña 2015.
These exceptional humidors, each personally signed by Jemma Freeman, are equipped with a Xikar Crystal humidification system located in one of the two drawers at the base of the humidor. The other drawer has been designed to hold 100 cedar sticks, allowing each of the 100 Ramón Allones Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225 to be lit.
The top part opens into a humidified compartment for other personal cigars of the owner. Once lifted, the "lid" reveals a ceramic plate with the original Ramón Allones logo. The result is a beautiful effect!
Finally, each of the 225 humidors comes with a 50 cl bottle of rum, the blend of which has been specially created by Havana Club's master blender, Asbel Morales, to perfectly match the taste of the cigar and thus offer a complete and harmonious taste experience. Each bottle is also individually numbered. Of the 500 individually numbered bottles of this precious spirit, none will be sold separately from the humidor.
