Saint Luis Rey Pura Vida Edición Regional Costa Rica 2020
A second regional edition for the small Central American country.
Officially launched in September 2021 by Cruz Canela & Trust GB S.A., Habanos S.A.'s exclusive distributor for Costa Rica and Nicaragua, the Saint Luis Rey Pura Vida, succeeds the Ramón Allones Nuevo Mundo, released in 2017.
The latter was the first regional edition for Costa Rica and Nicaragua since 2005, when Habanos launched the program. The "Exclusivo Costa Rica" band is therefore relatively rare.
The vitola chosen by Saint Luis Rey for this new regional edition is the Magnum 54 (54 x 120 mm). Before the arrival of the Pura Vida, the module was only used by H. Upmann for his eponymous cigar. It appears that some Pura Vida have been seen with an H. Upmann band versus one from a Saint Luis Reys.
The 54 cepo seems to particularly appeal to Costa Rican aficionados as it has already been used for the Nuevo Mundo, a Geniales (54 x 150 mm).
As for the name, this second regional edition "Exclusivo Costa Rica" is a tribute to a popular local saying, "Pura Vida", which is used to wish happiness to the person you are talking to. It can be expressed at the beginning or at the end of a conversation.
The production of Pura Vida is limited to 6'000 boxes of 10 cigars each and is produced exclusively for Costa Rica and Nicaragua.
Each vitola of this special production is rolled "Totalmente a Mano" with a long-filler made of tobacco leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region.
