It's been more than 150 years since 11 curious British gentlemen founded the world's first mountaineering club in London. The goal: to conquer the last unreached peaks in Switzerland.
Inspired by adventure stories like these, the sound of the summit winds and the blue glint of the glacial ice, The Alpinist's team has created exceptional enjoyment experiences with premium gin, vodka and rum.
Nobody knows where The Alpinist distillery is. Only a vague description is given: "At the foot of the Alps". It is assumed that it is somewhere in the Aletsch glacier area. What is known is that it is a small distillery, which produces high-end spirits in a traditional way and that they are made of the best, meticulously selected ingredients, including spring water and mountain herbs.
The Aletsch glacier is the biggest and longest glacier in the Alps. Between the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, it has its own ice tunnels on the Jungfraujoch. These are the source of the glacial water, which is used to reduce the distillate to bottling strength. The natural glacial water gives these spirits a particularly soft and pleasant flavour.

The Alpinist - Rare Blend Premium Rum - 8 years: Once sung about and coveted by seafarers, these days rum has become popular again. It’s no surprise really, as the aroma of tropical fruits and the passion of the Caribbean really get you in the rhythm. Select oak barrels, sealed for eight years: the result is a finely-attuned blend which tastes devilishly good not just neat, but also in a cocktail. Without added caramel colouring or cold filtration, this rum is as natural as can be.
The Alpinist - Swiss Premium Vodka: A feeling wells up reminiscent of one’s gaze when contemplating the world from the top of a mountain. This premium vodka is carefully distilled many times and is soft on the palate. Tentative aromas of cereals are accompanied by a hint of citrus. Its Alpine soul originates from the large Aletsch glacier, situated 3160 metres above sea level.
The Alpinist - Single Cask - Premium Rum: Like the final cut of a diamond, the single cask finish is what makes this collection so special. Three carefully selected types of casks with three unique aroma profiles: the wonderful sweetness of white port, the room-filling aroma of Juracon, and the fruitiness of Banyuls. They make our Rare Blend Rum a journey of discovery for the senses.
Single Cask Edition - White Port: Fine aromas of dry fruit, bananas and dates. A few hints of nutmeg, vanilla imparted by its maturation in a wooden cask, warm roasted aromas, slightly nutty. Intensive and complex but nevertheless elegant with a lingering and harmonious aftertaste.
Single Cask Edition - Banyuls: Unique characteristics through maturation in red wine barrels. The typical aromas associated with rum are skilfully played off against the sweetness of the Banyuls giving the rum a smoothness that can be felt on the palate. Fudge, honey and raisins tail off in an eternal aftertaste that craves for more.
