Martell Cohiba Cognac

Exclusively made of Grande Champagne for a perfect alliance!

Martell has been making exceptional cognacs for more than 300 years. This prestigious amber-coloured alcoholic beverage is exclusively produced in the wine-growing regions of Charente and Charente-Maritime, around the town of Cognac in France.

Cognac is made in three stages: the distillation of white wine to obtain an eau-de-vie, ageing in oak barrels for at least two years, then blending the different eaux-de-vie to reveal specific aromas.

At Martell, Cognac and its production are based on three main principles: place, precision and time. A passion and precision that has been passed on for several generations within the Martell family. A rich history marked by taste and know-how; Martell cognacs are served throughout the world and they have been appreciated for three centuries.

The Cognac region is divided into six crus: Borderies, Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Fins Bois, Bon Bois and Bois Ordinaires. Cohiba cognac is one of only two cognacs in the Martell collection to be made exclusively from Grande Champagne. This unique terroir produces the finest cognac eaux-de-vie and gives Martell Cohiba cognac its elegance and finesse.

Bubbling in copper cucurbits, the light white wine made from grapes harvested in the vineyards begins its transformation into eau-de-vie through the distillation process. Distillation is a delicate operation that is strictly supervised by the Master Distiller and his team. In order to transform fruity wine into the perfect eau-de-vie, he controls the duration and temperature of the distillation very precisely.

The production of Cognac is also a question of time. The eaux-de-vie that makes up this Cohiba Martell Cognac are aged in oak barrels for up to 55 years. A transformation then takes place. The oak wood gives the eau-de-vie its structure and its beautiful amber colour. It enables the eau-de-vie to acquire the last facet of its aromatic personality. As in a complex symphony of multiple notes, the Maître de chai combines and adjusts the different elements to create the perfect harmony.

Finally, the blending process gives the cognac its inimitable and eternal bouquet. To achieve this, the Maître de chai has a complex palette of aromas to draw from to build the personality of the cognac. A task made all the more complex and meticulous by the fact that the eau-de-vie changes naturally each year, depending on the climate and the harvest.

Martell Cohiba develops notes of dried flowers, enhanced by tobacco aromas. It is the result of a unique blend of old eaux-de-vie and presents complex and intense aromas, embodying the perfect combination of expertise that bears the seal of excellence.

Visually, it has an amber colour with golden highlights and hints of mahogany. On the nose, sweet notes of berries, dried fruit: toasted almonds, hazelnuts and other nuts, roasted coffee beans. Subtle floral aromas, a touch of liquorice and light hazelnut notes are added. The attack in the mouth is rounded, smooth and soft with a touch of liquorice and a hint of hazelnut at the end.

It can be drank dry, with ice or diluted with a little water. Favour the use of a tulip glass or a cognac glass, rather than a balloon glass, you will then enjoy a better appreciation of the elegance and finesse of the aromatic palette of this exceptional cognac.
