S.T. Dupont Haute Création Cuba Libre

Two emblematic objects of the Maison, revisited by Philippe Tournaire honouring Cuba's liberation.

Since 1872, the Maison S.T. Dupont, which we often talk about, has been creating luxury accessories for cigar lovers and, more generally, lovers of beautiful objects. This long tradition stems from its founder, Simon Tissot Dupont, who wanted to make each of the objects he created: "Make it exceptional. Make it exclusive. Make it unique". As early as the 19th century, he was already using materials, each one nobler than the last, making these objects the favourite travel companions of the European elite, resisting time and being passed on over several generations.

True to the philosophy of its founder, S.T. Dupont today combines its know-how with the talents of the greatest artists and craftsmen to create works that the Maison calls "Hautes Créations". These exclusive collections bear witness to the know-how and inspiration of its partners and create objects of beauty.

When art meets craft, technical precision is adorned with a new refined aesthetic. Entrusted to some of France's greatest artists and designers, S.T. Dupont's Hautes Créations become exceptional treasures, crafted in the most beautiful materials by the most expert hands.

To celebrate Cuba's openness to the world, S.T. Dupont has developed a collection of highly detailed instruments in line with this quest for exception. Named "Cuba Libre", it combines the rich and varied architecture of the island with the energy and colours of the revolution. This tribute to the rich heritage and history of this colourful country has been entrusted to a renowned master jeweller: Philippe Tournaire.

The "Cuba Libre" collection includes a Ligne 2 lighter and a Maxi Jet cigar cutter. Ligne 2 is THE iconic lighter of the Maison S.T. Dupont. The characteristic crystalline sound emitted when the cap is opened is one of its main attributes. For the "Cuba Libre" collection, Philippe Tournaire has designed a new set for this lighter, which is both classic and modern and, to say the least, emblematic.

The Maxi Jet cigar cutter, introduced more recently by S.T. Dupont, combines know-how and functional technicality. Over the years, it has become a real "must-have" for aficionados. Its innovative spring mechanism and its two razor-sharp blades ensure a consistently perfect cut. Here again, Philippe Tournaire has drawn on his know-how to adorn it with a new "Haute Joaillerie" setting.

A master jeweller inspired by history, science and architecture, Philippe Tournaire has fashioned rare and precious metals to offer this collection of instruments. Thus, bronze, natural red lacquer, rhodium and finely guilloched decoration give these essential pieces of the Maison S.T. Dupont's essential pieces an incredibly refined style.

Like a true work of art, each piece is individually numbered and bears the signature of its creator "S.T.Dupont Paris by Tournaire".

A captivating tribute to Cuban freedom, this double-flame lighter ignites the spark of revolution with its superb details in natural red lacquer and its bronze engravings with a rhodium finish.

The weight (414g for the lighter and its base and 200g for the cigar cutter), the precious metals, the finesse of the motifs and the quality of the finish that only a handcrafted work of art can possess, contribute to making these objects exceptional, exclusive and ultimately unique!

A few words about Philippe Tournaire. For over 40 years, this master jeweller has been creating pieces that combine architecture and fine jewellery through the use of exceptional stones, meticulous carving and incredible three-dimensional work. He has been awarded the prestigious Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) label, which is a mark of official recognition by the French government to French companies for the excellence of their traditional and industrial know-how.

In the beginning, he worked alone in an abandoned cellar, which he transformed into a workshop. He never trained as a jeweller and has a degree in electronics, which keeps him truly open-minded. His travels in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the United States have given him a great deal of traditional know-how and an understanding of modernity, allowing his public to better understand the originality of his jewellery, whose roots go back 40 years.

Philippe Tournaire does not hesitate to preserve ancestral, even archaic techniques, but also uses new technologies. The combination of these two very different techniques gives the final piece an incomparable result. His fascination for the jewellery and handcrafted ornaments of our most ancient ancestors, his open-mindedness and his unceasing quest for originality are the qualities that make each of his creations masterpieces combining metals and precious stones with the history of art and science. Ancestral know-how is fused with technology to create exceptional pieces that combine the art of architecture with that of fine jewellery.
