Cain F

One of the strongest cigars in the tobacco industry.

Produced by the famous Oliva Cigar Company, one of the most important manufacturers in the tobacco industry, in Estelí, Nicaragua, the Cain handmade cigars benefit from a know-how and a construction that are no longer to be proven.

In fact, it was in 2009 during the IPCPR trade show that Oliva announced the launch of Cain, a new cigar brand that differs from the main lines of the family. Sam Leccia, the head of the company, promoted the brand during the Cain F Tour, which began on March 10, 2009 and introduced the new "F" line. This collection pushes the limits of the strength present in a cigar, which explains the "F" in the name for "Forced Refined".

It proposes completely innovative cigars, whose filler is exclusively composed of ligero, more precisely of three different Nicaraguan ligeros: the one of Estelí, the strongest, which is nevertheless largely present in the mixture. The ligero of Condega, which is medium strength but brings complexity to the flavors and finally, the one from Jalapa which is the lightest of the three. They are accompanied by Volado and Seco leaves that allow an optimal combustion and a decupled flavor. The Habano wrapper, the exclusive blend and the wrapper of the Cain cigar form an entirely Nicaraguan puro.

Originally, this full-bodied vitola was to be produced only in boxes of 5, a format dedicated exclusively to pre-release and sample distribution to retailers. However, the enthusiastic response to this cigar has confirmed the launch of the Cain F as a regular production cigar since spring 2010. It is available in 4 models.

Small review of the different cigars:

Let's start with the F Robusto 550 (50 x 145 mm), it is dressed in a Habano Maduro wrapper that is very smooth to the touch. With a strength that dominates all aspects of the cigar, the flavors are hard to identify. However, they are accentuated by the pepper, which is always noticeable, to finish on additional notes of cinnamon.

Let's continue with the F Double Toro 660 (60 x 152 mm) which contains the biggest proportion of Estelí ligero. It is one of the strongest cigars on the market thanks to its extremely long fermentation process. Its palette of flavors is composed by earth, pepper and finally evolves towards a sweeter note of caramel.

Next comes the F Torpedo 654 (54 x 180 mm), which results in a full-bodied cigar with lots of power and flavor. Still covered by a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper, this cigar produces a dense smoke that solicits all the senses for almost 2 hours of tasting.

Finally, the Cain collection has also been joined by a new vitola in semi-regular production, the F Lancero (38 x 178 mm). It appeared in several limited editions such as the Studio Tabac Limited Edition 2012, produced in 2000 boxes of 10 units. Its construction is the same as for its congeners, but it is the thinnest of all options. The aromas that emanate from it are those of leather, coffee and pepper and constitute, once again, a particularly powerful cigar.

These regular production cigars are available in boxes of 24, except for the F Lancero which only comes in boxes of 10. The Cain F vitolas are simple, they are dressed with a red and gold foot ring, stamped with the name of the collection. The whole set is presented in a very sober wooden box, as if it came straight from the factory. The blend is indicated on each box with the origin and proportions of used tobacco.

About the brand:

In 2009, Sam Leccia, the creator of the popular NUB cigar brand and Oliva's sales representative, decided to launch Cain. His idea was to create a cigar whose particularity lies in the "straight ligero" blend. This means that it is entirely composed of ligero: the strongest variety of tobacco leaves, grown in Nicaragua. Sensibly thicker than the other leaves, it allows to give body to the mixture. However, it generally constitutes only a part of the filler because of its power

According to Sam Leccia, "People's palates have changed. They've matured and they want a full-bodied cigar, but it's hard to make something that strong that's not too harsh". That's why the tobacco in Cain's cigars is triple fermented, to give it a certain sweetness. If we do not know the exact duration of fermentation, the creator of the brand confirmed that it could extend to a few weeks or even months.

With the success of his first NUB company, his desire to attract more customers with full-bodied cigars only increased. He introduced his new creation, Cain, during the International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Convention 2009 (IPCPR). Supported by one of the best producers in the tobacco industry, Oliva Cigars, which is behind the production of Cain vitolas, the brand has made a name for itself in the industry, especially among connoisseurs who are looking for new and powerful tasting experiences. Cain is also a testament to the ability to create products that cater the tastes of new generations, adding another string to Oliva's bow, known for its rather traditional cigar making.
