Juan López Selección Especial

The Juan López brand,which currently offers only two cigars in regular production, is expanding its range and is introducing its first vitola exclusively for La Casa del Habano points of sale: the Juan López Selección Especial.

Although its regular catalogue is somewhat limited, the Juan López brand is frequently selected for regional editions and is quite popular internationally.

Despite this, the brand had to wait until its 150th anniversary to have a cigar available exclusively for La Casa del Habano stores.

La Casa del Habano is a franchise of Habanos S.A., which to date has no less than 160 "Casas" worldwide. The first one was opened in 1990 in Cancún, Mexico. This international network of specialized shops distributes exclusively Habanos S.A. products. Some specialties, such as the Juan López Selección Especial, are only produced for these "Casas". These are the famous "LCDH" editions, identifiable by their double bands. Also, the new products are always available for a preview.

In addition to the 150th anniversary of the Juan López brand, the Selección Especial celebrates the 30th anniversary of the La Casa del Habano franchise.

The vitola chosen by Juan López to introduce this novelty, is the Fortunas, a Double Robusto measuring 170 mm in length and a 52 cepo. The vitola is relatively rare, as no other Habanos brand offers it in regular production as of today. However, it has been used twice in regional editions, one of which was already produced by the brand, the Juan López Selección Suprema Edición Regional Reino Unido from 2009 and the other one, the Ramón Allones Gladiator Edición Regional Andino B.P.E. (Andes - Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador) from 2010.

The Juan López Selección Especial is available in a box of 25 cigars, or should we say, in a box set. Indeed, the Selección Especial introduces a new style of packaging comparable to that of Romeo y Julieta's new premium line, the Línea de Oro. A beautiful, solid box, covered in white lacquer, enhanced by a golden frieze. On the cover, we find the brand's vista, inspired by the works of French landscape painter Federico Mialhe, decorated with various gold medals, carried forward by the brand. We can also perceive the inscription "150 aniversario".

Like most of the cigars produced exclusively for LCH, the Juan López Selección Especial has a double band: the brand's classic one and the burgundy band, solely reserved for La Casa del Habano exclusivities, bearing the logo representing a tobacco leaf.

This Juan López novelty will immediately seduce aficionados with its generous dimensions, offering more than an hour of a nice balanced tasting. We find the characteristic taste of the brand, certainly a result from the carefully selected tobacco leaves of the Vuelta Abajo.
