La Aroma del Caribe Pasión
A new series that highlights the best tobaccos of Nicaragua.
La Aroma del Caribe, whose cigars are elaborated by the legendary Jose "Pepin" Garcia and his son Jaime, launches its new range named "Pasión". It is declined in three distinct cigars: the Pasión Churchill (49 x 178 mm), the Pasión Encanto (60 x 152 mm) and finally, the Pasión Robusto (50 x 140 mm). Each of these Puros is entirely handmade in Nicaragua, from a blend of the best tobaccos grown in the regions of Estelí, Jalapa and Namanji.
The wrapper that covers Pasión cigars, the Shade Grown, is harvested in a unique microclimate that the Garcia identified over a decade ago, in the fields of Namanji, that had an unexploited potential. The tobaccos that make up the wrapper, binder and filler are all carefully triple fermented using traditional methods. This artisanal production, the meticulous attention to detail and the exceptional quality shared by the Caribe Pasión vitolas offer aficionados an incomparable tasting experience.
A short review of the different cigars:
Let's start with the Pasión Churchill (49 x 178 mm): this medium strength module is perfect for aficionados looking for a rather mild tasting, without compromising the flavor and complexity of the blend. It delivers subtle notes of wood and vanilla during a tasting of about 70 minutes.
Moving on, the Pasión Encanto (60 x 152 mm) is a medium strength cigar, whose smoke reveals rich aromas of coffee, cocoa and pepper. Its construction is perfectly smooth, allowing a homogeneous combustion and a relatively easy draw, during a tasting of one hour.
Finally, let's move on to the Pasión Robusto (50 x 140 mm): this vitola appreciated by aficionados is characterized by its full-bodied flavors of cocoa, coffee and pepper. It has an impeccable construction, highlighted by its sumptuous Shade Grown wrapper in Colorado color. It is a perfect cigar for a rather short tasting, about 50 minutes.
The Caribe Pasión cigars are dressed in a double ring with a decidedly distinguished look. The classic ring bears the name La Aroma del Caribe, accompanied by a beautiful female portrait surrounded by golden decorations. The secondary ring is inscribed with "Pasión" in gold letters on a pastel green background. The three different modules are available in boxes of 25 units and join the catalog of regular productions of the brand.
About the brand:
The company's roots go back to the late 19th century, when it was still called "La Aroma de Cuba" and positioned as an exclusively Cuban brand. It even became a favorite of Winston Churchill, before being abandoned for a certain period.
In the early 2000s, the brand experienced a turning point when it was bought by Ashton Distributors, which modernized it for the first time in 2002 and moved its production to the Flor de Copan factory in Honduras. But a few years later, in 2008, a collaboration was born between Ashton and the legendary Don Pepin Garcia who will supervise the production of the cigars now called "La Aroma del Caribe", in his factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
The Garcia family grows and harvests a wide variety of filler and wrapper leaves in Nicaragua's most prized tobacco growing regions. Jose "Pepin" Garcia and his son, Jaime Garcia, ensure the assembly and quality of La Aroma del Caribe cigars.
The modern revival of the brand has been accompanied by a series of handcrafted editions that are very popular among aficionados, dressed with the original ring that illustrated La Aroma de Cuba. It is this vintage look combined with a new sophisticated and invigorating taste that has earned the company renewed acclaim.
