Montecristo Wide Edmundo
The most generous of the 4 vitolas celebrating "The Count of Montecristo".
For 20 years now, the name "Edmundo" has delighted Cuban cigar lovers. First, Montecristo created the Montecristo Edmundo in 2004. Then, the Petit Edmundo appeared in 2006, followed by the Double Edmundo in 2013. Finally, Montecristo's regular production welcomed the latest addition to the collection at a Spanish premiere party in 2022: the Wide Edmundo.
Organized by Club Pasión Habanos and Tabacalera S.L.U., the party was attended by more than 350 people at the Cívitas Metropolitano stadium in Madrid for the launch of this new vitola.
It was named after Edmundo Dantes, the hero of the famous novel "The Count of Montecristo" by Alexandre Dumas, which was a popular reading in the different factories, among the torcedors. The Wide Edmundo is a Cuban Habano entirely hand made, it is composed of a myriad of tobacco leaves from the famous Vuelta Abajo, in the region of Pinar del Rio.
The vitola chosen by Montecristo for this cigar is a Duke No. 3 (54 x 125 mm), which makes it the most generous format of the Edmundo line and the second of the regular production of the brand, preceded by the Leyenda of the Línea 1935, a Maravillas No. 2 (55 x 165 mm). It has a beautiful Colorado Claro wrapper dressed by the classic Montecristo ring and for the first time, a secondary ring with the name of the vitola on a yellow background. The cigars are sold in the typical Edmundo line bare boxes of 10 and 25 pieces.
The Wide Edmundo offers the usual pronounced taste and aroma of Montecristo, delivering notes of spices and coffee balanced by a certain sweetness. The result is a cigar whose strength evolves from medium to strong, with a perfect combustion and a dense smoke with woody scents. The tasting time is one hour.
