Created within the Villiger Group, San Martín draws inspiration from the ideals of independence and determination embodied by its namesake. General José de San Martín played a decisive role in the independence movements of Argentina, Chile and Peru, leaving an enduring mark on the history of South America. His legacy provides a compelling foundation for a cigar brand built around the idea of liberty — the freedom to think independently, to appreciate craftsmanship and to savour a moment on one's own terms.
Originating in the Caribbean and handmade in the Dominican Republic, San Martín combines a sense of heritage with an aromatic profile defined by earthy notes and a subtle touch of citrus. The precise composition of its tobacco blend remains undisclosed, leaving part of the cigar’s character deliberately under wraps and inviting enthusiasts to discover it through their own tasting experience.
The collection offers several formats, each bringing its own nuances to the smoking experience. The Robusto, measuring 124 mm with a ring gauge of 50, offers an approximately 60-minute smoke. Its compact proportions make it a natural choice for those seeking a well-defined moment of enjoyment.
For a more evolving experience, the Piramide stands out with its tapered head. This distinctive shape influences how the smoke reaches the palate and how the filler tobacco burns throughout the cigar. As a result, the aromatic profile can develop more dynamically, with flavours that may become more pronounced as the smoke progresses.
The Churchill, by contrast, is designed for a longer, more gradual experience. Traditionally, a Churchill measures around seven inches in length with a ring gauge of 47. Its extended format often allows the smoke to remain cooler and the flavours to unfold progressively, offering a more measured and linear evolution than that of very wide cigars. The San Martín Churchill measures 178 mm and is designed for a smoking time of approximately 90 minutes.
