Villiger 1492

By its name, the line 1492 of Villiger pays tribute to Christopher Columbus who discovered the New World that year and who brought back from his journey the pleasure of tobacco to Europe. It is a Dominican creation offering, by its mixture, a relatively soft and aromatic tasting.

The cigars of this collection are, as mentioned, produced in Dominican Republic. As for the blend, the wrapper made from Connecticut seeds is grown in Ecuador while the binder comes from Indonesia. They wrap a Dominican filler composed of Seco Piloto, Ligero Piloto, Seco Olor tobaccos and is characterized by rather sweet flavors. There are 6 distinct modules in this collection: the Villiger 1492 Minuto, the Perla, the Robusto, the Short Perfecto, the Corona and the Churchill.

Small review of the various cigars:

To begin with, the Villiger 1492 Minuto (30 x 102 mm): Its Colorado wrapper carefully envelops the filler from which emanate notes of herbs, nutty, earth and even wood. Its strenght is medium and once lit, the cigar produces a dense smoke. The combustion is considerably constant during the 30 minutes of tasting. This format is available in pack of 8 cigars.

Then, the Villiger 1492 Perla (40 x 138 mm) benefits from a perfect construction with a totally smooth wrapper. It offers a tasting of 40 minutes whose main aromas are wood, coffee and toast. The smoke production evolves from medium to dense as it burns. It comes in a box of 20 units.

Moving on to the Villiger 1492 Robusto (50 x 133 mm), although slightly firm, the construction is carefully executed. The Ecuadorian wrapper blends perfectly with the Indonesian binder made of Java Besuki tobacco. This format offers a tasting of 50 minutes delivering woody flavors. This Robusto is available in 3-piece packs or 20 piece boxes.

The Villiger 1492 Short Perfecto (50 x 138 mm) is composed of the same blend as the other vitolas of the line. Its Colorado wrapper nicely envelops the cigar and testifies to a careful construction whose head ends in a peak. The tasting time of this medium strength cigar is 45 minutes, with a slight resistance to the draw. The scents emanating from it are still like the previous vitolas. It is also available in pack of 3, or in box of 20 cigars.

Let's continue with the Villiger 1492 Corona (43 x 138 mm) which is a medium strength cigar. Hand-rolled, it benefits from a nice construction. Its main aromas are those of wood, earth and nuts, accompanied by a creamy touch. The smoke produced by this Corona is rather dense, with a tasting time of 55 minutes. It comes in a box of 20 units.

Finally, let's move on to the Villiger 1492 Churchill (50 x 17 mm): This is the most generous format of the line. Dressed in a relatively bright wrapper, it delivers earthy and toasty flavors accompanied by creamy notes. Its combustion is relatively slow and offers a tasting of one hour and half. Made of the same blend as the other vitolas in the line, the 1492 Churchill has a medium strength profile. It is arranged in a box of 20 cigars.

Regarding the packaging, the cigars are arranged in an elegant box decorated with a golden latch on a bright white background. The brand's logo and the name of the line "1492" are stamped on it, also in gold color. However, there are also packages of 8 cigars, notably for the 1492 Minuto, which are presented as small aluminum boxes with a very similar design. And finally, the 1492 Perla and the 1492 Short Perfecto are available in packages of 3 units, always similar to the original design of the line!

The cigars are dressed with a ring inscribed "Villiger" and "1492" on a white background decorated with golden borders of a certain simplicity and making the vitolas distinguished.
