Steeped in history dating back to 1830, when the MacAskill brothers established it at Carbost, Talisker has weathered upheavals, changes of ownership, and even a fire, yet has consistently kept the spirit of Skye at the core of its brand and its exceptional whiskies.
This time Talisker presents the Glacial Edge 45-Year-Old, the distillery's first-ever venture into a Scotch whisky of such venerable age. This release marks the culmination of the Talisker Xpedition Oak Series, a series of whisky-making experiments undertaken in collaboration with the marine conservation charity Parley for the Oceans.
This extraordinary single malt Scotch whisky has journeyed through time, maturing in American Oak ex-Bourbon barrels, diving deeper into the casks to extract spicier and sweeter aromas. Finished in ice-fractured casks, the Glacial Edge 45-Year-Old unveils a new depth of flavor, bringing forth a rare and untamed essence that epitomizes Talisker's commitment to wild whisky making.
The nose reveals a rich maritime tapestry of seaweed, sand dunes, and iodine, coupled with mineral undertones. The palate, enveloping and nuanced, unfolds with rich sweetness, evolving into delightful saltiness, smokiness, and a gradually intensifying pepperiness.
