E.P. Carillo Allegiance
Blend born in the collaboration between two best cigar producers.
The line “Allegiance” joins the existing trio in the E.P.C. catalogue: “Pledge”, “La Historia” and “Encore”. This is the second edition that wasn’t produced at the family owned Tabacalera La Alianza in Dominican Republic, first one being “Inch Nicaragua”.
To produce this line E.P. Carillo partnered with one of the leaders of the cigar industry from Nicaragua - Oliva Cigars whose reputation speaks for itself. The blend was created by Ernesto Perez Carillo Junior, who carefully selected the best Oliva’s leaves. Nicaraguan tobaccos were used for filler and binder, and a Sumatra leaf from Ecuador was chosen for wrapper.
“Allegiance” is available in four sizes so each aficionado can find the right one to his taste. What’s more, the name of each vitola reveals a character that is truly allegiant: Sidekick (50 x 127 mm), Confidant (52 x 152mm), Wingman (54 x 175 mm) and Chaperone (58 x 159 mm).
The cigars are presented in a richly decorated box of a luminous green color that contains 20 pieces. Each vitola is adorned with a double band: one representing a brand’s logo and the other one bearing the line’s name. There’s also an elegant satin band in the color of the line, placed on the foot of the cigar.
Rich and complex, Allegiance offers the spicy and nutty flavours with a little touch of coffee and black pepper. It’s a full-bodied cigar that will indulge your palate for around one hour.
About the brand:
The roots of the Perez Carrillo family are found in Cuba, where Ernesto Senior was born in 1904. Since his early childhood, he was immersed in the world of tobacco thanks to his father who rolled and sold cigars in the heart of Havana. After working as a tobacco buyer for several years, he acquired a small factory called "El Credito", which launched his career as a cigar manufacturer and made him famous throughout the country. He was even elected to the Cuban Senate in 1954 and 1958.
His son, Ernesto Junior, the creator of "La Gloria Cubana" in the United States, had a real success in the 1990s. This brand, which propelled the family among the best cigar producers in the world, was bought in 1999 by the multinational General Cigar Company.
His children, Lissette and Ernesto III, will then propose to their father, to return to the sources, by making their own cigars, in family. In April 2009, they chose to establish themselves in an independent building of 12'000 square meters in the Zona Franca of Santiago, Dominican Republic. Immediately, they began the construction of the factory of their dreams and named it "La Tabacalera Alianza".
Thus, this factory will give birth to E.P. Carrillo cigars: there, the tobacco is fermented, aged and handrolled by experienced rollers, relearning their profession with a "Cuban style" rolling technique.
Ernesto Perez Carrillo Junior's insatiable desire to offer superior quality cigars led him to establish his plantations in the rich and fertile lands of Nicaragua, specifically in Esteli, Condega and Jalapa. Each of these regions is essential to the elaboration of the brand's unique blends. He also has plantations in Ecuador, dedicated to the cultivation of high quality tobacco leaves.
Today, E.P. Carrillo offers a wide range of cigars divided into 9 different collections: the Allegiance in partnership with Oliva Cigar Co; the Dusk in homage to the creation of the best cigars elaborated by the hands of the master; the Encore which offers a second part to the critically acclaimed collections; the INCH Maduro which honors larger gauges; the INCH Natural; the INCH Nicaragua; the New Wave Connecticut which celebrates the famous Ecuadorian wrapper; The Pledge; and finally, the famous La Historia collection.
